Secondary lithium batteries have much more energy density because of its higher operating voltage and volume-specific capacity. Compared with currently widely used Ni-Cd batteries and Ni-MH batteries, secondary lithium batteries have the highest energy density and still have great potential for development. Under the same volume or the same weight, it is 3-5 times of the traditional lead-acid battery and has a longer battery life.
More Extended Cycle-Life
There is no structural change in the insertion and extraction of lithium ions on the cathode and anode of the lithium battery during charge and discharge (There will be some expansion and contraction of the lattice during insertion and extraction); lithium dendrites will not form during charge and discharge because of the more stable lithium insertion compound. That significantly increases the safety performance of the battery, and the cycle life is also extremely extended.
More Environmentally Friendly
Lithium batteries do not contain toxic substances such as lead, luck, mercury, etc.. Also, in the manufacturing process, the batteries must be well sealed; the solvent, which dissolves the binder, can be fully recovered. In the course of using, only a few gases will generate. Therefore, lithium batteries do not pollute the environment. In addition, large-scale lithium battery manufacturing enterprises have successively started the recycling of lithium batteries and the recycling of materials (such as metal cobalt, etc.) since 1997.
